Notable changes to the Drillbotics Guidelines. Entries are in reverse chronological order.

  • 06-2026 2026 Results: Added the final 2026 competition results page, updated homepage/competition messaging and the site-wide announcement banner, marked the 2026 cycle complete, noted that 2027 rules will be published later in 2026, and added concise acknowledgements.
  • 02-2026 Advancement announcement: Posted the February 2026 advancement list for Mode P and Mode V, updated the site-wide announcement banner and key landing pages, and refreshed the Upcoming table with the Feb 25 showcase, committee-coordinated interoperability checks, conference booth dates (Mar 17-19, 2026), and the May/June final competition window.
  • 02-2026 Official announcement link: Updated the site-wide banner and primary CTAs to link to the canonical Drillbotics.com post (while keeping a mirrored copy in this Guidelines site for redundancy).
  • 01-2026 Phase I: Updated the site-wide banner and key landing/overview pages to thank teams for Phase I Design Report submissions, clarify that registration closed 2025-12-31 23:59 (Local Time), and highlight the optional Phase I video deadline (2026-01-23, Local Time).
  • 01-2026 Sponsors: Refreshed sponsor ribbon data and assets for the 2025–2026 cycle (including Baker Hughes, NOV, and Corva).
  • 01-2026 Tooling: Added a GitHub Actions workflow for strict MkDocs builds and automated dev deploys via mike; added helper script + source documents for maintaining the 2024 archive.
  • 10-2025 Prizes: Added site-wide note that prizes and recognition are being actively reworked and improved beyond the SPE/IADC paper publication, subject to available budget; more updates to come. Callouts added on Competition Overview, Rules & Scoring, and above the prize sections in the 2024 archive pages.
  • 10-2025 Registration: Added prominent callouts announcing that registration is now open for the 2026 competition at https://drillbotics.com/2026-team-registration/; updated timeline table, main landing page, competition overview, and both track overview pages with registration information and deadlines. Added sponsors + donate button in banner display.
  • 09-2025 v2025.1: Finalized 2025–2026 cycle. Standardized naming to "Mode Virtual (V)" / "Mode Physical (P)" across headings and CTAs; published 2025.1 timeline windows; completed general Safety with cross‑links; updated Rules & Scoring with 2025.1 weights and Edge‑AI Bonus (optional, ≤10% default; ≤15% max); refreshed deliverables dates on Mode V/P pages; kept 2024 PDFs and archive labels unchanged.
  • 09-2025 Edge‑AI: Added explicit expectation for students to focus on data generation/fine‑tuning and compact multimodal model optimization within the centralized include used on Group A pages.
  • 09-2025 Mode V: Expanded Technical Specs with case‑aligned signal tables, sampling/logging schema, and clearer D‑WIS/OPC‑UA discovery guidance; aligned with 2025.1 cases; no rule changes.
  • 09-2025 Tooling: Switched local preview (Makefile/local-dev.sh) back to mkdocs serve, updated README guidance, and enabled strict: true with the temporary site URL.
  • 09-2025 Competition: Flagged overview/rules/safety/timeline pages with draft banners pointing readers to the published latest site.
  • 09-2025 UI polish: Cleaned competition/track index cards with subtitles, refreshed hero/buttons/table/footer styling, elevated grid/mobile nav, added announcement hover, and kept the ToC label accessible-only.
